City College or Junior College?

When the Carson Street campus opened (for the 1935-36 school year), the sign read “Long Beach Junior College.”  During World War II, there was a precipitous drop in enrollment, and the school district reorganized the college’s structure in 1944.  When the college opened for the 1945-46 school year, it was LBCC, and the sign advertised “Day and Evening Classes.”
